Will the First Supermoon of the Year Be Visible or Just Another Washed-Out Letdown?

Of course it's raining. It's Northern California in winter — we’re basically living in a cloud’s wet sock. I had my telescope ready and everything. January can keep its ‘supermoon.’ I’m holding out for March. At least vampires have style.

Planetarium Staffer (天文馆工作人员)
Real talk: if you’re serious about astronomy, don’t depend on the weather. Visit the Schreder Planetarium in Redding. We simulate perfect skies, explain the science, and even serve hot cocoa. The moon will always rise here — on the dome, at least.

Climate Nerd (气候宅男)
Funny how people call it ‘bad luck’ when clouds block the moon, but it's literally just climate. Northern California has a Mediterranean climate with wet winters. This isn’t bad luck — it’s basic meteorology. Get a grip.

Oh, I'm gripping alright — my damp telescope and wet sneakers. Thanks, Captain Obvious.

You’re all missing the point. The supermoon isn’t about visibility — it’s about energy. It’s shifting our emotions whether we see it or not. Also, it’s ruled by Cancer, so of course it’s emotional and rainy. Poetic, really.

Skeptical Scientist (怀疑论科学家)
Ah yes, ‘energy.’ That unmeasurable, invisible force that somehow affects us all. Reminds me of phlogiston theory. But hey, if it makes you feel connected to the cosmos, go for it. Just don’t cite it in my lab report.

Local Hiker (本地徒步客)
I was up on Mt. Shasta at dawn and swear I saw a red glow through the clouds. Maybe it was the Blood Moon’s preview? Or just the sunrise. Either way, it felt magical. Sometimes nature gives you a backdoor ticket.
